TAIWAN's Evergreen Line is expanding the port rotation of its transpacific TPS service by adding a call at Vladivostok.
The revised port rotation is Kaohsiung, Shenzhen-Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Taipei, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tacoma, Vladivostok and back to Kaohsiung.
Alphaliner reported lower fuel prices makes it worthwhile to bunker at Vladivostok despite the diversion, particularly, on the unrewarding transpac backhaul.
It noted that several carriers have amended their port rotations over the last 18 months to bunker at Vladivostok.
Another cheaper bunkering destination that has been rising in popularity is the intermodal container port of Vostochny at the eastern end of the Trans-Siberian Railway and located in Vrangel, Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East.
