CHINA posted an 8.5 per cent year-on-year increase in waterway cargo to 4.06 billion tonnes during the first 10 months of this year, according to the latest statistics from China's Ministry of Transport, quoted by Xinhua.

In the same period, China's waterway cargo turnover climbed 5.4 per cent to 7.11 trillion tonnes per kilometre.

In October, the country achieved a waterway cargo transport volume of 430 million tonnes and a turnover of 778.1 billion tonnes per kilometre.
