China's total logistics value increases 9.6pc in first nine months of 2012

    DURING the first three quarters of this year, China recorded a total logistics value of CNY130.7 trillion (US$20.94 trillion) in the period from January to September, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP), reports Xinhua.

    After having removed price factors, total logistics value increased 9.6 per cent over the same period in the preceding year.

    In September, China's social logistics value increased to an annual peak of CNY16.8 trillion. Monthly growth of the value was around 10 per cent this year, compared to 12.3 per cent to 14.5 per cent last year.

    Truck volume grew 14 per cent and dollar volume 16 per cent in the first nine months. Port throughput tonnage increased 6.3 per cent. Container throughput climbed 8.1 per cent. Express packages volume recorded a sharp growth of 52.3 per cent to 3.83 billion pieces during the first nine months and a growth of 58.2 per cent in the month of September to 510 million pieces.

    From January to September, value of logistics of industrial products increased 10 per cent. Import logistics value increased 5.9 per cent.
