Chongqing's cargo up 11.3pc in first eight months to 516 million tonnes

FROM January to August, Chongqing recorded a cargo transportation volume of 690 million tonnes, 15 per cent more than in the same period in 2011, Xinhua reports.
Railway cargo volume increased 6.1 per cent to 14.84 million. Waterway cargo went 7.1 per cent up to 77.94 million tonnes. Road cargo totalled 600 million tonnes, up 16.4 per cent. Air freight grew by a sharp 50 per cent to 75,000 tonnes.
