Shanghai's first slip in 2014, Nov volume down 0.7pc to 2.94 million TEU

SHANGHAI container volume fell for the first time in 2014 with November throughput down 0.7 per cent to 2.94 million TEU, according the Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).
Last month container volumes also decreased 3.2 per cent compared to the 3.02 million TEU handled in October.
In the first 11 months of 2014, Shanghai posted a total throughput of 32.39 milliion TEU, an increase of 4.8 per cent year on year.
But it appears unlikely that the port will beat last year total volumes of 36.62 million TEU with a shortfall of 4.24 million TEU and only one month to go.
