Maersk container fleet plans to expand its own vessel

According to media, maersk plans to start a new shipbuilding plan next year, increasing of 425000 TEU has its own capacity from 2017 to 2019 to meet the need of market’s development as well as in response to the company all TEU ship requirements within 3 years.New plan will be mainly aimed at more than ten thousand TEU ship, and will chartering vessel which conataining less than 10000 TEU ship form below.
Maersk last new shipbuilding project was started in 2011, has made 20 new type 3 e 18000 TEU boat, the last ship will be completed by next September..Basically, the company, has no new ship delivery in 2016. It will meet their demands for container fleet capacity relying on charter to until a new round of shipbuilding project put into operation.
ALPHALINER statistics show that by the end of October 9th, maersk container ships maintain leading position with 584, 2.8068 million TEU capacity, which accounts for 15.1% of global, , which has its own fleet of 252 ships, the capacity of 1.5745 million TEU, charter rate 43.9%.
However, maersk has made only 14 new ship, 204700 TEU capacity, than the second Mediterranean shipping (MSC), whiich has 49, capacity 584900 TEU ship far, market research and even think MSC could challenge maersk, the world in 2017.
